3CX V20 Release

3CX V20 is currently in development and we’ve been gearing up for its release. As the software we use for our dedicated phone systems, we’re excited to see what this new update will mean for us and our clients.

3CX has described V20 as a ‘new optimized system’, taking all the previous iterations and reconstructing them into a platform that is ready for the future market and can evolve with the changing landscape. Comms systems are becoming more than just phones. To accommodate the various means of communication, they need to have “omnichannel” capacity. For this reason, 3CX have continued to develop integrations that allow for this multi-channel operation.

V20 comes with a host of new and improved features in response to partner and customer feedback including greater security and more options for configuration. These updates will give users more flexibility to use the system in a way that works best for them. It will also allow us, as solution providers, to build more tailored systems based on client’s requirements.

3CX V20 Features

>> New Admin Console which is easily accessible for users through their client console rather than as a separate login. With the management console and web client combined, users will now have 1 easy to remember URL to access the system.

>> Groups have been replaced by Departments which can be configured independently with their own office hours, holidays, phonebook and permission levels. This will be useful for larger organisations who require more complex structuring.

>> Native Windows softphone to run in conjunction with the web client making it easier to manage calls on the desktop. This softphone app will offer greater security as it will be deployed via the Windows store and checked by Microsoft.

>> New Call Manager with increased functionality including multi-line queue strategy, improved Makecall service, and better call control and performance.

3CX have announced further features that may be available in the initial V20 release or in subsequent updates. This includes a Teams integration which will be a great addition to the software and one that we envisage making a big difference to our clients, allowing them to further streamline their communications.

We’re currently exploring the preview version of V20 to make sure we’re ready to roll out the new features when it’s officially released. No exact date has been given as of yet but it should be ready by the end of the year. We can’t wait to see what this new version can do and how it can help to enhance our clients’ experience.
